Technology
The company’s lead product is an aerosol delivery of the chemotherapy drug paclitaxel for treating lung cancer. The Lung cancer treatment device is showing substantial delivery and efficacy advantages in preclinical non- small cell lung cancer models. Our unique, patented technology facilitates the inhalation aerosol delivery of lipophilic anticancer agents into the lungs, uniquely positioning Aerophase for commercial success. The technology uses supercritical CO2 to generate a controlled and reproducible drug aerosol with a median particle size of about 1 µm, which is ideal for particle inhalation. The aerosol facilitates targeted delivery of paclitaxel directly to the tumor sites in the lung. This targeted delivery means that lower doses of chemotherapy drug are administered resulting in lower systemic side effects in the body. It has so far been successfully shown that this aerosol system:
• Delivers chemotherapeutic agents to the lungs more effectively than other current methods
• Achieves therapeutic concentrations with lower systemic toxicity
• Is uniquely positioned to gain large market share in treatment of the world's most deadly cancer
• Has proven consistent efficacy
• Has been peer-reviewed and federally funded by the National Cancer Institute
Human clinical trials have demonstrated that aerosol inhalation chemotherapy may be a highly effective primary, combination, or adjuvant approach for lung cancer treatment. Aerophase is urgently seeking equity investment of up to $3M to qualify for $3M in matching funds from the National Cancer Institute to support the further development and FDA approval of this technology.
